When I do read slash (which isn't often), I think of it as AU anyway, so this made perfect sense to me.
Oh me too, and when I write slash I definitely think of it as an AU. I like to think the relationships on the show are entirely based on familial bonding. Writing slash for me is the fun of the 'what if...?' and it being different from the show. Same with ship. Much as my hormones might like the idea of watching: Jack/Daniel, Sam/Teal'c, Daniel/Teal'c, Sam/Daniel, Jack/Daniel/Teal'c, Jack/Daniel/Teal'c/Sam, Sam/Janet, Sam/Vala, or Cameron/Daniel doin' it (which is a lot), I really don't think it would be good for the team dynamic. Also, how would they ever get through a mission if they were having to keep stopping to have more wild and crazy sex? The universe would be completely overrun with Goa'uld and Ori....
