I so should be in bed, but I found this through a rec and can't stop reading.

I love this Xander-centric chapter. His complaints about algebra versus the clear practicality of building the kite; and Giles finally realizing something deeper about the young man. And Wesley's immediate belief that anything Xander will build will stand strong no matter what. I also love the images of Giles cuddling little-Wesley, reading C.S. Lewis aloud. You've also very nicely painted Cordelia's depth. The scenes a couple of chapters ago of the playmobil battles had me chortling happily. I also like the little bit of history with Wesley and Rayne.

They're all learning so much about each other, themselves, and that they all need to grow up a bit.
