Oy vey and ouch. The personal and family issues (and your dog on top of it all, *sob*) are legion. I feel for you. I was caretaker to my father at the end of his days and now I'm doing it for my mother so my heart goes out to you. And I'll be thinking good thoughts in your direction on your own health. {hugs}
OMG, L, do you have any idea, any idea at all, how good it is to hear you're working on the sequel to Into the Labyrinth? It's only my favourite SG1 fic of all time which I tend to rec at the top of my lungs to anyone who will listen. Or, well. You know what I mean. :D I'm just one chuffed person right now. Hope is dangerous that way.
