NOTES: This slash mini ficlet came about because a friend and I were discussing how some of the caps from 'This Old Gang of Mine' make it look as if Wesley is having to break up a fight between Angel and Gunn about which one of them gets to sleep with him first. Well, it looked like that to us, anyway. Caps courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] bka0711

Wesley could hear the sounds of the argument going on downstairs. He sighed as he unbuttoned his shirt and then hung it carefully over the back of the chair. He kicked off his shoes, pulled off his socks – balling them together so they wouldn't become separated – undid his belt – looking ruefully at the extra hole he'd had to make in it – then unzipped his trousers. By the time he had hung those over the chair as well, pulled off his boxer shorts and added them to the pile of clothing, the argument had clearly given way to the usual combat. Sighing again, he got into bed, sliding under the covers to await the outcome.

He could tell from the footsteps who the winner was, not to mention the way the entire building seemed to shake as the defeated combatant slammed the door on his way out. Wesley looked up as Gunn walked into the bedroom, the tall American looking simultaneously jaunty, triumphant, and ashamed.

Wesley sighed reproachfully. "Couldn't you two think of a better way to settle this? And what's wrong with some kind of rota anyway?"

Gunn was already pulling his sweatshirt over his head while simultaneously kicking off his shoes. "The vampire just can't stand to wait his turn, that's the only problem around here." He tugged at the laces of his trainers impatiently with one hand while unbuckling his belt with the other. Wesley couldn't help thinking that if he'd tried that particular manoeuvre he would have ended up somersaulting forward and giving himself a concussion but Gunn was now a past expert at getting himself naked in double quick time. He seemed determined to beat his personal best today, and was breathtakingly nude, muscular, and already aroused within a few seconds. He slid under the covers like a ruling champion but when he cupped Wesley's face in his hand and then kissed it, the movement was delicately tentative.

Wesley couldn't help smiling tenderly at the man even as he automatically responded to that practised gentle kiss. "Charles, I really am completely healed, you know."

"I know, I just…"

It was just one of those strange anomalies, that the vampire with super-strength always paid Wesley the compliment of assuming that his wiry human body could take a little passionate pressure, while Gunn persisted in treating him as if he were made from bone china and would snap if handled roughly.

"…couldn't bear to hurt you…" Gunn finished, nibbling at Wesley's lower lip.

"You never would." Wesley sighed. "Is Angel…?"

"He'll get over it." Gunn stroked his fingers through Wesley's hair. "And this isn't about him, remember? This is about you and me. All night long. He gets your attention tomorrow night and I get to sulk."

Wesley smiled at him. "I don't think the sulking is really necessary, is it? You know I love you both."

"Hey." Gunn kissed him again, as slow and tender as Angel was heated and passionate. "We accept we've gotta share. Nothing says we've gotta like it." Then he began to kiss down Wesley's body, licking and nibbling in a way that made him gasp and arch in response. Gunn grinned up at him from somewhere around his navel. "Although, right now, I gotta tell you, I'm not seeing anything wrong with this arrangement at all…"

As Gunn kissed on down his body before beginning to nibble between his thighs, Wesley had to admit that he couldn't see a great deal wrong with it either. There were undoubtedly worse things than having two tender skilful lovers each vying on alternate nights to prove that they were the most unselfish and devoted.

"Oh God…" As Gunn's skilful mouth got to work, Wesley closed his eyes, lay back and thought of everything but England, and how one day he was going to get Angel and Gunn to just share this bed with him at the same time and accept that the other was a valued friend. But until that happy day he was going to enjoy every minute of this turn and turn about arrangement. He just wished those two could think of a more adult way to decide who got to sleep with him than the inevitable bout of 'Rock, Paper, Scissors'...

I love your icons -- and man, I totally forgot that Wes started wearing that jacket in season 3. *suede jacket love*

Thank you. :) A friend just bought me the storage for 100 icons package so I've been playing with them all day.

I hadn't realized he was wearing the suede jacket in S3 until I posted the caps either. I thought of it as being his PTSD jacket. Right there with you on the love for it, too. The S4 Hot!Slut!Wes Uniform is hard to beat. Also, every episode should involve someone nibbling Wesley's neck...

PTSD jacket!

love!

my favorite is that awful shirt he wears in "Couplet." I call it the ugly shirt of heartbreak. He clearly needs to move into his PTSD wardrobe.

Oh goodness, yes, the blue and white check - that one was frightening. And his 'wino who lives in a dumpster' jacket in Loyalty. Some of his clothes were definitely a cry for help. (I was so excited the first time I saw Loyalty and Wesley's in the hospital with Angel, thinking 'ah hah, there are all these trained medical professionals around, they are bound to see that this man is having a nervous breakdown'. And then I realised that as he appeared to be co-parenting a baby with the disgustingly healthy-looking guy they would just assume that he was the one who'd been stuck with doing the nightfeeds...) He clearly goes through a period of very bad clothes decision while mid-breakdown and then snaps out of it once he's into the truly dark self-loathing and bitterness place.

Wesley must be the only guy in the world who coped with PTSD by becoming even more unfeasibly hot and suddenly learning how to dress well and be amazingly good in bed.

Oh, I'm sure he was always good in bed.

Ask Gunn Angel Virginia.

LOL! It is interesting that he couldn't kiss before the battle with the Mayor and yet could, very well indeed, by the time he reached LA, when the only person we know who was intending to visit him in hospital was...Giles. He was darned good with Virginia when pretending to be Angel and with Lilah when she was pretending to be Angel...

see, now's the point where I have to get a word in for my OTP and point out that he and Cordelia kiss very well in "Parting Gifts." It was just the umm. . .stress of the battle. library setting. Proximity of Giles.

who knows.

oh hell, I have Wes/Cordy bad!sex fic floating around somewhere. I really want them to work, I'm just not sure how well it happens in this particular universe *g*

Oh, I *love* their kiss in Parting Gifts. I really wanted them to get together in S3 Buffy and I was so disappointed when their kiss in the library didn't pan out. I was pretty excited when they had that smoking hot kiss in Parting Gifts (still think Giles must have given him lessons though *g*) but I loved the brother-sister thing they had going so much I enjoyed that too. I thought Cordy and Gunn were going to be a couple after 'First Impressions' because they sizzled too, but then Gunn started sizzling with Wesley instead and I realized that they were basically all sizzle whores. But I love Wes-Cordy, Gunn-Cordy and Wes-Gunn, and really think there should be more Gunn-Wes-Cordy for multi-pairing hos like me.

man, somebody has to put that on an icon.

though Wes/Giles is about the only Wes relationship I can't do; well, that and Wes/Buffy (unless it's really dark). can I vote for Xander giving him the kissing lessons?

I read a really good fic where Buffy was the one who gave Wes the kissing lessons but that one probably wouldn't work for you. *G*

though Wes/Giles is about the only Wes relationship I can't do; well, that and Wes/Buffy (unless it's really dark).

I can't read Giles/Buffy and Giles/Willow. I think I'm too invested in Giles as their father figure so it squicks me, whereas Dru pouting 'It's not Daddy, it's never Daddy' in 'Reunion' I absolutely love, so clearly I have one rule for vampire incest and another rule for humans, or just, you know, no consistency.

can I vote for Xander giving him the kissing lessons?

Lord, yes. I love Wes/Xander, but there never seems to be enough of it, especially with Wes, er, um, *reveals yet new depths of shallowness* not on top...

multipairing whores unite:

My take on Wes/Xander (http://www.wesleyfanfiction.net/archive/viewstory.php?sid=1423&PHPSESSID=c42ac0f8d043721b4c731daac6cdc486).

Wes/Buffy kissing lessons . . . interesting. I have trouble seeing it, for the same reason I have trouble seeing Wes/Giles (at least in the Sunnydale era). I don't think Buffy or Giles has enough respect for him for a ship to work. I'm willing to be proven wrong -- but I much prefer Wes & Buffy as working partners.

LOL! Definitely! I'm just not an OTP kinda gal.

My take on Wes/Xander.

Yay! More Wes/Xander! Thank you so much! (And who needs to do housework anyway? There are places where much of the floor is still visible...)

I quite understand that, especially Buffy. I usually prefer fic where S4 Hot!Slut!Wes turns up and makes everyone in Sunnydale who previously dismissed him get a bad attack of the hormones. I would have loved him to turn up in S7 with Faith. :) But I really like this fic where Buffy treats Wesley decently in S3 but isn't suddenly completely unlike herself:

Training Daze (http://wesleyfanfiction.net/archive/viewstory.php?sid=267) by Nemo the Everbeing (http://wesleyfanfiction.net/archive/viewuser.php?uid=51)

My feeling with Wes/Giles is that as we know that Wesley had it in him to be incredibly sweet and loyal and crushy and hero-worshippy with an alpha male who was nice to him, it would only have taken Giles being nice to him for him to transform - while in Sunnydale - into S1 Angel Wes. It just needed something to happen that didn't while Wes was there and then Giles would have been getting the 'you're my hero' eyes and Giles would be thinking how totally adorable Wesley was, and how clever and brave and intelligent and wonderful and feeling really bad for being such a bitca to him before. That's my happy little fantasy anyway. :)

I see what you're saying, and there is GREAT watcherlove fic. Those two just don't work for me; they're actually about the LEAST compatible pairing in fandom AFAIAC!

oh well, different strokes.

btw, I meant to beg for Wes/Xander recs because I have been able to find very very few.

I haven't been able to find very many either. I have more on my HDD but I haven't always got who wrote them or where I found them so I will have to do some searching and then get back to you. These are the ones where I could find user info, and I think anything I’ve found you probably found first.

The first two are both by janedavitt (http://www.livejournal.com/users/janedavitt/).

I also enjoyed this crossover which is part of a Houston Knights AU fic series involving centaurs (even though I haven’t seen the other show) The Road From Home (http://gila.fakingsanity.net/whedon/roadhome.html). The information page about the series is here

There is also a wes/xander community here wes_xander (http://www.livejournal.com/community/wes_xander/)

Please post yours too. I'll start a new LJ page for it too in case anyone else has any they can recommend and I can add the others I have on my HDD as I find out who wrote them and the link for how to find the fic.

Thank you so much for the link to your Wes/Xander fic. I loved it. Wesley had just the perfect amount of defensive snark and Xander's basic decency shone through so well. I loved the 'On the Road' discussion and Wesley's initial disdain for something that was potentially life-changing for Xander until he realized how much he was just adopting a position. And my hormones love the idea of Wesley wearing Xander's too big clothes.

Moments happened, between men. Between boys. Xander remembered. Twelve years old, in a room with Jesse, stretched on the floor reading comic books. An accidental scraping of legs. A shared look. In the van with Oz, bumping elbows. A back slap from Holden Webster, in gym class, that went on a second too long. Xander knew what you did with these moments. You turned your head. You dropped your hand. You said something about Wonder Woman, or Radiohead, or the Lakers, even thought neither one of you knew the first fucking thing about basketball; you said something to let the other guy know it was all right, it didn't mean anything, to reassure everyone who overheard that the two of you were men.

Xander understood. But he didn't look away. He didn't speak. He tightened his grip on Wesley's palm, leaned in and kissed him on the mouth.

I loved that moment; and the sense one had with both Xander and Wesley in their younger days that they spent so much time afraid of their words/actions being misconstrued by another man, of people mistaking them for the kind of men that liked men, that they never dared take a moment to wonder if perhaps they were.

Lovely fic, thanks so much for giving me the link.

Yes, he fell into a big shirt-angst-depression! He was so upset that it made him kidnap Connor. *LOL*

So *that's* why he did it. Nothing to do with the prophecy at all. If only Cordy had taken him shopping, so much angst could have been avoided. :)

I think his hair, especially at the begin of S3, was even worse than his clothes!

Date: 2005-11-01 12:14 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] elgrey.livejournal.com
Oh gawd, that hair! It really did look as if something was trying to eat his head. I swear in some episodes it was only barely controllable by use of a whip and a chair. Like the bad glasses and the bad shirts, I have no idea why anyone would do that to a nice boy like Wesley.

Date: 2005-11-01 12:47 pm (UTC)

*LOL*
Yeah, it did look like some kind of alien mop grew out of his head.

Oh, and the glasses. I particularly dislike those black rimmed glasses from S2. At the start of S2 he looked so cute and then BANG they gave him those ugly glasses which made him look so stern. But at least his hair was ok at that time... ;)

Date: 2005-11-01 12:58 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] elgrey.livejournal.com
I hate those too. His glasses in S1 were so adorable, and then suddenly we had the Joe 90 specs. I suppose they were trying to make him look like more of a grown up than he did in S1 and less of Pretty!Crushy!HeroWorshipping Boy, but it was a shame. He didn't seem to get the good glasses back again until I think it was 'Happy Anniversary'.

Date: 2005-11-01 01:22 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lemony69.livejournal.com
I was so relieved when those ugly glasses were gone.

The absolutely worst was, I think it was the episode "Darla", were he wears a butt-ugly green-grey-brownish (I don't know what colour THAT is) pullover over a checkered shirt and on top of that the ugly glasses. I nearly cried! ;)

Date: 2005-11-01 01:34 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] elgrey.livejournal.com
You and me both! And 'ewww' on the Darla clothes. (Thank you for showing it on an icon. Why, why, why would they do that to a nice boy like Wesley?) It's why I don't love 'Guise Will Be Guise' as much as I otherwise would, because of those awful glasses. Thank goodness he was wearing Angel's coat for some of it and Virginia had the sense to take those glasses off when she very sensibly snogged him. His hair and glasses and clothes were so scrumptious in S1, I still don't know why they had to fiddle with perfection. There was no episode in which he was not entirely lickable.
