I've really enjoyed fic from Aelfgyfu's Mead Hall in recent weeks. These are the kind of fic where it feels as if someone has kindly handed you a missing scene or extra episode you had not seen until now.

I particularly enjoyed My Dinner With Vala, which has a scene I would have loved to see on the show - Jack's first meeting with Vala. Aelfgyfu's wonderful tortured Daniel who gets twisted up in knots with the strain of a night out in company with Vala is just blissful to behold.

I'm also very grateful for how clear she is on spoilers, as I still haven't seen all of S9. I found this to be beautifully written fic with that scalpel-precise characterization, where every word out of the characters' mouths is something one can 'hear' them saying, which is always such a pleasure to read. Wholeheartedly recommended.

I enjoy her fic too. "My Dinner With Vala" is excellent, and just as relevent in Season Ten as it was in Season Nine. Her touch with the characters remained true, even as they've developed.

That kind of characterization where you can 'hear' every word that comes out of the character's mouths is unbeatable. It's the main thing for me that makes a fic work or not work, and I've loved all of hers because everything just rings so absolutely true.
