For anyone who hasn't seen them yet, there are some ficathons being run specifically to promote writing about characters of colour in fandom.

Ficathon #1 which is being co-ordinated by

annavtree and can be found here "anna's probably just a little tacky post-kerfluffle multifandom inter-racial ficathon" (No aliens, for (good) reasons which are explained along with the other rules in her journal.)

Summary: Write a fic of at least 500 words before August 25th, gen, het, or slash, that features an inter-racial romantic relationship or an interracial platonic relationship or an inter-racial familial relationship featuring people from the planet earth.

rydra_wong and can be found here "Emergency Brother From Another Planet" Fic Challenge!" along with all the rules.

Summary: Write a fic of at least 500 words, gen, het, or slash, that features at least one humanoid or human character who is from another planet but is in contemporary Earth human racial terms, a person of colour.
